Contributing to Conservation

Balkan Trek is more than just another ecotourism operator. We are committed to making a direct contribution to wildlife conservation and wildlife research through all our wildlife and walking holidays. 

All our wildlife holidays in the Rodopi (Rhodope) Mountains are now developed in co-operation with the local wildlife conservation NGO 'Wild Rodopi', and are designed to contribute directly to researching and preserving the wildlife and rural heritage of the Rodopi (Rhodope) Mountains.

Not only do all the proceeds generated by our wildlife conservation holidays go directly to help fund the NGO 'Wild Rodopi', the trips themselves are specifically based around wildlife research and monitoring. This not only ensures that you will have an opportunity to observe and photograph some of the rarest and most interesting flora and fauna in the Rodopi (Rhodope) Mountains, but that the observations made and data gathered on these trips will be directly contributing to enhancing knowledge about the biodiversity and conservation needs of species in the region.
